Bold Threads, Brave Spirit
And so, the Caledonian Braves proudly announce a new chapter in kit design, brought to you by Acid FC in collaboration with the long-famed Le Coq Sportif. This is not just another kit reveal; it is a statement of rebellion, creativity, and a mixing of cultures—a reflection of both heritage and an ambitious future for the club. Taken together, the kits are a kind of visual manifesto: a reduction of all that the Braves are made of—boldness, rebellion, and a desire to break out of the tight shackles of football. Pulled straight from classic Scottish tartan, the new home kit has been ripped apart by Acid FC and twisted into something completely different.
It does just that: "We were given the freedom to push our creativity into new, tartan-heavy places," says Ed Cowburn, founder and design director at Acid FC. Instead of going traditionally punk, the studio deconstructed and then cemented this pattern—smashing it, relationally speaking—with punk elements and bold French influences. Acid FC is designed to mirror the origins of the Braves: the club was born from the Edusport Academy in Paris—a very unique setup, which brought young French talent to Scotland.
Chris Ewing, Braves founder and chairman, rammed home the harmonic Franco-Scottish partnership: "As a proud Glaswegian living in Paris, I am delighted to partner with Le Coq Sportif to produce the Caledonian Braves' kit for the season and welcome the iconic brand back into the United Kingdom. The brand has a unique identity with plenty of tradition and heritage, and we are excited to present a kit that embodies a Franco-Scottish partnership.” The home kit is bold and vibrant, highlighting shades of blue and red—a mix between the Scottish and French flags. Typography across the chest in Gothic letters trails a rebellious edge to that design.
Acid FC captured the punk spirit that has so long been associated with Glasgow's cultural scene. It's more than a nod towards the city; it's a statement of intent. "The Braves?" Cowburn explains, "They're punk. Scrappy, upstart bravehearts clawing at the establishment, ripping rules apart like a cheap t-shirt." The away strip brings a softer, modernist interpretation of the club's identity. This version channels pinks, turquoise, and light greys, turning down the intensity of the hues while keeping it just as defiant.
But rising proudly from the chest, emblazoned on the club, is the Phoenix—emblem, poignantly powerful in renewal and ambition. The wings of The Phoenix are detailed in 3D patterns in French, Red, and Blue, reminding people of the cross-cultural roots. "This isn't just a club crest," Ewing says. "It's a symbol of where we've come from and where we're going—a call to build something new." That Le Coq Sportif is once again a presence in UK football for the first time in over a decade lends extra weight to the launch. Rich in football heritage, the brand last kitted out teams during the sport's golden era in the 1980s, including Argentina's legendary 1986 World Cup-winning squad. "If it's good enough for Maradona in '86, then it's good enough for us," grins Ewing.
This release also highlights the Braves' partnership with Amnesty International, whose logo proudly adorns the sleeves of both kits.
Neil Cowan, Programme Director—Scotland at Amnesty International UK, said: "We're delighted that the Caledonian Braves have chosen to show their support for human rights in Scotland and around the world by carrying the Amnesty International branding on their new kit. Football clubs can help bring people together and create more accepting communities; seeing the Braves express their solidarity in this way was great.
The first kits, now in pre-order (information below), signify more than just a wan statement in fashion—a conjunction of cultural rebellion and football tradition in two striking designs. The Braves are ready for the pitch in these revolutionary kits, with aspirations not only to rise through the ranks of Scottish football but to challenge the game's very fabric. That's what the club's motto proudly says: 'Because together we got power.' With their punk-inspired kits, the Caledonian Braves are set to make some noise—on and off the pitch.
